Articles abound on all things virus – distribution, mutation and all the available forms of vaccination that are making their way through society, most of which are also preceded by ‘COVID-19:’.

Business has reacted on advice and directives from the health experts like never before. They have locked down their businesses, introduced strict cleaning and check-in practices and locked doors to only those who need access.

But let us not forget that despite all these safe practices, virus in the workplace still exists, it just doesn’t always get the same level of attention, until…

Imagine that for just a minute…your business has been shut down since April 3, today it’s April 15.

Your primary revenue tap is turned off, your customers are displaced with no choice or options, your staff have no work, and you have no clear date on when business can get back to normal.

Right off the back of enforced closure following the COVID19 outbreak, only that time the government were there to prop you up. Not so this time…

It’s a stark reminder that despite all of the planned protections, threats to the workplace still exist, in many forms and mutations, and we have to be constantly on guard and keeping our vaccinations up to date.

Virus vaccinations are not a ‘set and forget’, mutations are constantly appearing, and carriers of the viruses and threats are constantly out there looking for weaknesses in our defences.

It has been only 3 months since we last touched on this topic (HERE) but just image how many mutations of virus threats have occurred in that time.

A common misconception for small businesses is that your business is too small to be a target, but unfortunately, this is not the case.

As a business owner you need to take this seriously. You need to protect yourself and you need to have a clear plan of what action is needed in the event of a business crippling incident.

It’s not just the barriers and protections you put up, but also the internal protections of data and systems and what your recovery plan is, and that’s not one that leaves you and your customers treading water for 12 days and counting…
